How Learning Manage Systems Work

A learner typically enters the e-Learning environment through a portal. The portal interface can be as simple as a login screen, or it might be something more sophisticated like a knowledge management portal.

The portal links the learner to pages generated by a Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS provides the learner with a point of entry for accessing their personalized learning plan. Training events are then mapped to the learning plan. In some cases the LMS can launch the training event and track it.
